This short comic was a test for a possible senior college thesis, which would have been book length. I didn't major in art, but I did major in an extremely liberal department whose requirements amounted to "impress us."
Unfortunately I didn't get to execute this one (instead I wrote a very tongue-in-cheek prose essay on what Athena does in the Odyssey) - though I have faith it will get its turn.
As the theme of this website might suggest, I've loved Greek mythology since childhood, and the thesis was about taking those crazy old stories and warping them to the shape of my own weird little mental life growing up.
The kid in this comic (who doesn't exist in the myth) is, indeed, me. I had that Dorothy Hamill haircut for years.
