Family Man page 179!

One swapped video processor and my computer is back in action, and my noble attempt to switch to updating on Fridays at last sees some vindication.  Thank you for your patience with the two week update drought!

I’m working to get the book’s files off to the printer this coming week; if nervous exhaustion sets in I might have to surrender, but I’ll give it the old college try, because, hell, I’d like to see how Ariana responds to a speech like this.

(And for those of you who can’t even remember the page before this one, here it is.)

Family Man Volume I cover is online!

This week I’m recovering from the Stumptown Comics Fest and working to meet a deadline for the short comic Sara Ryan and I are contributing to the forthcoming new Bordertown anthology. (I mentioned that before, right?)

So here’s a new image never before seen online! This week’s update features the almost-final center art for the cover of the Family Man vol. 1 book.

Fortuitously, an easy page for me this week.  Fortuitous because (after being sick for three days and getting behind on every project I’m currently working on) I’m also getting ready for the Stumptown Comics Fest, here in my own Portland, OR.  I’m the coordinator for all the panel programming and this year and I’m very proud and excited about all the wonderful stuff that will be going on!

This year I also got to help the lovely Hope Larson organize the Drink and Draw Like a Lady event (not to be missed!).  You haven’t lived until you’ve placed an order for 200 cupcakes, my friends.

I’ll be at Table 105 selling some delightful wares, and I’ll be appearing on a panel with fellow history comics artist Kate Beaton.  See you there!

Yep, after a week in which you all were so wonderful as to fund the print run for Family Man with your preorders (it passed 100% early in the weekend!), I have come down sick. So this page is a few hours late, and I am now headed back to bed in hopes of healing up so I don’t sneeze my way through several deadlines and major events this month.

I’ll be more voluble as soon as I get another few dozen hours of sleep! In the meantime, enjoy this week’s page. *sneeze*

Holy dang.

It is late (for reasons of Pre-Order Madness), but by gum, here is a page!  I cannot ask the internet for money and then totally flake on this week’s update.  It would be Somehow Wrong.

But yes, about that.

As most of you know, I opened up pre-orders for the Family Man Volume I book this past Monday. I was really completely terrified that I’d have three very nice people (two possibly being blood relatives) take me up on the offer and that I’d be spending my spring desperately trying to figure out how to cobble together $10,000 for a print run.

Well, the joke is on me: It’s been four days and over 85% has already been contributed. This means I’ve gotten to sign off with my printer, set a press date and will spend the next month Making A Book instead of Worrying About Making A Book.

I really don’t have adequate words to thank you all. I figure I’ll just send you all a book, instead.

For those of you who are waiting on a paycheck to get a copy, don’t worry, pre-orders will be available until I actually get the books! although the special hootchy fancy packages are running out (we’re down to 36!). They are all right here.

Thank you all dreadfully. And now: more comics.
